General / Technical Director ME
Currently the General Manager of LTC Middle East in Dubai, overseeing all business and engineering activity in the Middle East region. Since 1997 I have worked exclusively in the field of engineering & safety in fairground and amusement machinery and structures with over 80% of this experience attributed to inspection and certification of amusement rides and devices.
I hold a B/Eng Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Manchester Metropolitan University where I studied on a Part-Time basis whilst working for LTC. My dissertation was entitled “Fatigue Analysis of Design and In-Service Engineering”. I also hold various HSE certificates, most notably IOSH Managing Safety and have been qualified in NDT (PCN level 2 in Visual, MPI & UT).
Since the beginning of my career I average 130 physical inspection events on amusement rides per year, which in-turn leads to the issuance of many safety certificates for all types of rides and devices, covering scopes of Initial Approval and In-service inspection and Installation Examinations.
During the revision of EN13814 I took the position of convenor on Workgroup for Guest Behaviour & Risk Assessment. I have also been attending the workgroup and committee meetings for ISO TC/254 which has now yielded the standard ISO 17842 – Safety of Amusement Rides and Amusement Devices.
I am also the current Chairman of The Middle East Safety Forum, whose delegates are owners, operators of rides and attractions plus other stakeholders in the Middle East. The Forum meets several times a year in various Middle Eastern locations to discuss all manner of topics relating to engineering & safety with a view to better flow of information via networked relations.
In my personal life I live in the UAE with my family, I like to cook, enjoy live music, watching football and play drums.
