Pre-use or Initial Approval inspection is an initial assessment which needs to be carried before an amusement device is used for the first time, or after any safety critical modification.
As described in ‘HSG 175: Fairgrounds and Amusement Parks – Guidance on safe practice’, Pre-use inspections are comprised of three elements:
- Design Review (Assessment of the amusement device design and assumptions)
- Assessment of Conformity to Design (Quality assessment of the manufactured device against the reviewed design)
- Initial Test (Ensure safety critical aspects of the device function as intended)
