Before any device is used or supplied for use, a ride controller must first make sure that an inspection body competent in assessment of conformity to design has confirmed in writing that all safety-critical aspects of a manufactured device conform to the reviewed design.
For a full description of the assessment of conformity to design please refer to Fairground and Amusement Parks – Guidance on Safe Practice (2nd edition), paragraphs 104-109.
At LTC, our inspection engineers have been involved in numerous conformity assessments to ensure that the device construction and installation is as the approved design specification. These normally involve the assessment of structural, mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and are typically performed at the location of manufacture.
