This document concentrates on the safety of employers, employees and the general public using fairgrounds and amusement parks, and gives advice on measures to control risks. It provides advice on issues relating to attractions, including operation, maintenance, repairs, and modifications. It also includes advice on site layout and safe systems of work.
BS EN 13814:2019 Fairground and Amusement park machinery and Structures – Safety
This standard specifies the minimum requirements necessary to ensure the safe design, calculation, manufacture, installation, maintenance, operation, examination and testing of the following: mobile, temporary or permanently installed machinery and structures e. g. roundabouts, swings, boats, ferris wheels, roller coasters, chutes, grandstands, membrane or textile structures, booths, stages, side shows, and structures for artistic aerial displays.
BS ISO 17842:2015 Safety of amusement rides and amusement devices
The ISO standard has been created to harmonise guidance across numerous national standards to create a single world standard for the amusement industry. It is comprised of three parts:

Safety of Amusement Devices: Design (2nd Edition)
Issued by the Amusement Device Safety Council this Guidance sets out the measures which the industry considers appropriate for design and manufacture of amusement devices, including; design and risk assessment, principles of dynamic analysis, calculating loadings, assessment of fatigue, specifying materials, designing foundations, supports and structures, mechanical systems, controls: general requirements, safety related control systems, passenger units and containment, physical guards/barriers/fencing, electrical systems, information to be provided by designers, common amusement device hazards, electrical safety of dodgem rides and variations from EN 13814.
Safety of Amusement Devices: Advice on Inspection - Pre-use Inspection
Issued by the Amusement Device Safety Council this Guidance sets out best practice guidance for Inspection Bodies performing pre-use inspection, including; pre-use inspection process, pre-inspection considerations, Design Review, Assessment of Conformity to Design and Initial Test.
